Are you sure it is a city/county vehicle doing it and not a private contractor? I know where I live outside of town some of the smaller roads don't always get plowed and citzens have to do it themselves with their own trucks if they want it done. Maybe it somethng like that. Or the city is just hiring someone on the side to do it. If it is actually an MDOT truck my guess would be they are in compliance with the law, it just isn't something you are used to seeing is all.

As far as I know MDOT doesn't plow roads, they contract that out to the individual counties. As far as I know MDOT contracts all day-to-day road maintenance to the counties.

As iMonitor linked to, in Michigan it is not illegal for a private contractor to have the strobe in if going into the road is incidental while plowing a private parking lot, or moving from one lot to another.
Yes it is illegal for a private contractor to drive down the road with the strobe going if they are not pushing snow.
This is what I'm referring about. I see private contractors driving on roads with their light(s) on while they are not pushing snow.A few weeks ago, I saw a private snow plow truck driving south on Hayes between 21 Mile & M-59 with the amber light flashing.

I was just watching a Steve Lehto video on Youtube [/MEDIA]
Steve is awesome. I bought one of his books just in appreciation of all of his videos.
A) Long ago when I was an EMT in Indiana only EMTs had green lights. Of course you never saw any.
B)No doctor is going to get a light. Doctors don't work in the field. I, as an EMT, legally outranked any nurse or doctor. Medical training can be very specific. If anyone tried to commandeer my patient he would be told thanks for trying to help but to take a hike. I could have some podiatrist or psychologist saying "I'm a doctor". Could be a geriatric nurse, etc. They are not trained in emergency procedures and codes. We had help on the radio if needed. I never had to excersize that authority although I think someone on another shift had to. I had to take control of the fire department rescue on a rollover once. I've seen doctors kill patients after we handed them over though.
