At the moment I am using Linux on my netbook and I am very impressed with it and the speed plus the quick restore time if something does go wrong. I can put on Windows XP if I want but this would slow it down quite a bit and in some ways defeat the purpose of using it.

The only issues I have found so far is that I am missing having a VOX recorder type program, can anybody suggest any that would be suitable? Also does anybody know of any other good Linux scanning or radio related programs worth installing?

I know of only 2 programs - surely there are others - that would qualify; Audacity has been mentioned on various threads many times so it at least bears a look...

And as for Linux based scanning programs, there sure aren't all that many...

how good these are, I haven't a clue - just tossing these out there to start the discussion. I'm not a Linux person.
