I was told that the LIRR train radio system was going to be switched to a new system.

the current 160-380 & 161-445 was going to be phased out.

can anyone confirm this on the board???

You may have heard about the new New York Statewide Wireless Network. I have seen on the FCC's website a lot of licenses located at almost all the MTA LIRR/MetroNorth stations. I heard (don't know how true it is) that these are for the MTA portion of the new SWN System.

Those licenses are for an internal MTA system, but supposedly it will be tied into SWN somehow.

The trains aren't going anywhere. I don't know how this [false] rumor keeps popping up.
