Hi, What does Englewood mean? I thought the dispatch center was at the citywide 911 center off Madison.

Anyone have any idea what freq the "Chicago Fire" is on? There's a ton of districts and precincts in Chicago. To just say "Chicago Fire" is pretty vague..

Not sure what you mean by squelch crashes, but if your talking about that data burst sound at the beginning of the transmissions by CFD, that is for the dispatcher to identify what radio is talking. They had to move it to the beginning of the transmission because some numnut was making racist comments on the radio and he rigged the handheld to where the identifier wasn't triggered.

Oh I know, they use pre-MDC access with a scrutinizer (I believe). I'm talking about when the repeater de-keys you get the squelch, or short static pop. No biggie.

He means when the repeater drops out the squelch doesn't mute. Like when you have the PL programmed versus having it in CSQ mode. I personally enjoy it in CSQ mode, then you don't get the cut off TX's and you can hear that sexy MDC1200 signal. Not sure why, just enjoy the sound.
