Okay, so I can't use live365 cause they want money. I don't know if I mentioned this before, but I work at wal-mart, so yeah.

As far as shoutcast goes, when you get to the download screen you get:
SHOUTcast WIN32 Console/GUI server v1.9.5 [DOWNLOAD]

This SHOUTcast server runs on Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP/2003 for Intel hardware. You *CAN* run the shoutcast server on the same machine running Winamp and the SHOUTcast DSP Plug-in.

SHOUTcast FreeBSD 5.x server v1.9.5 [DOWNLOAD]

This SHOUTcast server runs on FreeBSD, and was built using gcc 3.3.3 under FreeBSD 5.2.1-STABLE.

SHOUTcast FreeBSD 4.x server v1.9.5 [DOWNLOAD]

This SHOUTcast server runs on FreeBSD, and was built using gcc 2.95.4 under FreeBSD 4.11-STABLE.

SHOUTcast Linux server (glibc) v1.9.5 [DOWNLOAD]

This SHOUTcast server runs on Linux, and is an elf binary compiled with glibc6. SHOUTcast no longer supports older Linux kernels running libc5 or glibc

SHOUTcast Mac OS X server (Mac OS X 10.3+ / Mac OS X Server 2 10.3+ -- CONSOLE -- no Aqua interface) v1.9.5 [DOWNLOAD]

This SHOUTcast server runs on Mac OS X and Mac OS X Server 2. It is a unix-style app without an Aqua interface, and has to be run in a terminal window.

SHOUTcast Solaris Sparc 2.x server v1.9.5 [DOWNLOAD]

This SHOUTcast server runs on Solaris boxes with Sparc processors, and was compiled on Solaris 7 using gcc 2.95. I have no idea if it works with earlier versions of Solaris, but it should work with later versions. I'm sure it doesn't work with Solaris x86.

and I'm lost. Which one?

Alrighty people. Disregard all of the questions. It takes only an amateur rocket scientist to figure out shoutcast. Luckily for all of you I moonlight as that. http://67.176.72.176:8000/listen.pls is the address for all of you that would like to tell me whether I succeeded or not. Like I said before this link won't be up most of the time as I use my scanner at work. Once I get another one though this ones all yours to listen to. I will take feedback on what it should be tuned in to. It will probably be a couple months. I might hook it up at work to feed my work radio traffic if all of you want to listen to some really boring stuff. My GF wants to listen to me kick the crap out of shoplifters. I use ricochet at work on my laptop. Without trying it yet does anyone see any complications with that?

And I did it with a wireless router. The feed your listening to is through my laptop on the wireless router.

http://www.shoutcast.com/download/broadcast.phtml#plugdownload

Then go here and agree to the legal stuff. http://www.shoutcast.com/download/license.phtml

Then download the SHOUTcast WIN32 Console/GUI server v1.9.5

Install them both after download and follow the instructions below.

Shoutcast DSP Setup

Once you have installed the DSP plug-in into Winamp you can go ahead and start Winamp then the DSP plug-in:
Preferences (Ctrl-P) > Plug-ins > DSP/Effect > Select "Nullsoft Shoutcast Source DSP..."

Once you select this the Shoutcast DSP box will pop up. First select the "Encoder" tab. Select an Encoder (Use Encoder 2 because Encoder 1 currently has a bug), select an Encoder Type (currently only MP3), and then select the format and bitrate you want to stream with in the "Encoder Settings" drop down.

Next select the "Output" tab and select an Output (Output 1 by default is good). Hit the "Connection" button if it is not already selected. Type in the address of your server ("localhost" if the DSP and server are on the same machine). For "Port" enter the port you have as PortBase in the sc_serv.ini file (8000 by default). Enter the password you selected when editing sc_serv.ini. Finish off by selecting the encoder number that you previously set.

If you would like your server to be listed on Shoutcast.com hit the "Yellowpages" button next to the "Connection" button. Make sure "Make this server public" is checked. Then enter some descriptive info about your stream in the corresponding boxes below.

The other options in the Shoutcast DSP are not described here because they are beyond the scope of this article.

Once you have all the settings taken care of go ahead and hit the "Connect" button. Start playing the MP3s that you want to webcast. If everything is set up and running correctly the DSP should connect to the server and start the stream for the world to hear.
