• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Getting ready to order more stuff for training class and can't find LMR400 on Tessco. I see Ventev and some other vendors selling jumpers but no bulk listing.
Anyone else seen this? I looked at my order history, it was there in May. I told their system to duplicate that order but only the connectors came up.

My alternate source is RF parts, anyone got another vendor I can try?
thanks

Tessco seems to have dropped all Times Microwave stuff. Went to order some EZ-400 connectors a month or two back and found them no longer listed. Seems like they’re clearing out whatever they have in stock and then that’s it.

They have their own Ventev-branded TWS-400, no idea how it performs compared to the real deal.

Same. Was ordering a couple thousand feet of T-RAD-600 for a mine and got the same notice. Off to Primus, Digikey, Mouser.

I hadn't heard of Ventev (we use Times from Talley). Turns out Tessco actually owned the Ventev brand (maybe for ~9 years), but sold it to Hubbell in February 2025. Maybe Times dumped Tessco due to some conflict with Hubbell, or Tessco agreed not to sell Times any more as part of a non-compete clause in the Hubbell/Ventev deal?

I got the TWS-400 spec sheet to compare
item TWS LMR
V factor 85 84
loss
150 1.8 1.5
450 2.8 2.7
900 4.0 3.9
Overall very similar specs but the Ventev folks don't list the dielectric constant. Wondering why the VHF insertion loss is higher by 0.3 dB
instead of 0.1.

Just applied for a Talley account. I also buy from RF parts since I use to live down the coast from them and delivery was next day.
Will look at the beep boop alternatives.

Has anyone used Flex Seal tape to weatherproof connectors?

Definitely Talley Comm., or Show Me Cables for bulk Times Microwave cables or Pasternack for cable assemblies, if you don't know how to crimp/solder your own Amphenol connectors.

Starting to order WAY more through Talley as of late. Tessco isn't carrying what they always have and what they do carry they are starting to become a complete rip off. Sad, been doing business with them for decades.

at IWCE I heard somebody mention something along the lines that Tessco was dropping Times because it was a direct competitor with Ventev who they owned at the time.

Tried setting up an account with Talley but never got my confirmation email, will try again. Made an order as a guest, it should be here tomorrow.
I noticed in the past Tessco seemed to have 0 quantity when I was filling my cart but when I got to checkout it said it was there and shipped.

Cavmedic, just noticed your location. Would not have meant much but I just watched a Times webinar on semi rigid coax made in your town.

Is the place called “micro coax” I believe in Douglassville?

I was in your ETA classes last year At CAC in Harrisburg with Tom. You did my GC2 class as well..
