Hey folks. Just wondering if you can recommend anyone in the GTA that does scanner repairs. I have a GRE 410 that stopped turning on awhile ago and would like to find out if its worth fixing, as it is a great analog scanner. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm here a lot
When you search around, there really is nothing, locally. How about going to a cell phone repair shop or perhaps Williams Communications that services Motorola radios.
Both places can crack it open and have a look for damage or diagnose with their testing equipment. Parts if need replacing, could be a major issue, though.

Thanks for replying. I would figure I would throw the question out there, as I didn't know if there were any small shops locally that dealt with scanners. I will call Williams and see what they say. Thanks again.

If you have a volt meter, I would pull the plug from the radio and check if there is D.C. voltage coming out. If not, just a matter of replacing the ac to dc adapter is all.
I see many models use the same adapter - AC / DC Adapter GRECOM PSR-600 PSR-400 PSR-410
Since all the radio shacks Pro 197, 651 and current Whistlers are successors of the PSR600 any of their adapters should work.
I see the output on the adapter below is 13.8 volts and 600ma current.
Granted the Canada shipping could be costly.

See Pro-197 AC Adapter
"GRE P/N: 100-011
- AC Adapter
- 13.8V 600mA
- For PSR-400/410/600, PRO-163/197"

If its something internal, more than likely its just not worth the money to fix. The current Uniden BCT15X is equivalent that can do
trunktracker II like the 410.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I have already ordered and tried new AC adaptors from Whistler last year. I needed one for my PSR 600 so I bought 2. Its something internal.

Try basic trouble shooting. It may be a bad fuse or a bad solder connection on the power connector. I am amazed at how many pieces of hardware cross my bench with simple repairs. Not complaining the easy repairs make you look good as long as you keep quiet about how easy it was.
