"Radio Totse" on now

New Zealand pirate radio station "Radio Totse" is in right now at 1046 UTC on 6925 USB, very weak but signal is improving as sunrise approaches here. He should be on until 1300 UTC for anyone listening this morning.

Boy, if that don't say "I'm a ham", nothing does.

I'm still waiting for a pirate that has some sort of agenda, rather than just 'playing radio'.

With regard to "Radio Totse" and from totseans.com:

I have made the decision to start a Totse themed broadcast. It will start mid February on 107.9 FM locally and on the shortwave band covering the pacific and part of the US depending on the time of day and weather conditions but shortwave can cover the globe if the conditions are right. At the moment I am looking at a modified Icom 718 HF transceiver (Link) for a shortwave transmitter and am in the middle of sourcing a FM amplifier for our FM transmitter.

My Ideas for show content is non stop music and discussion of any topic of your choosing which can be arranged on Teamspeak. Basically I would like to use it to attract interesting people to the site and pirate radio is a good place to do so IMO. If you have any ideas or suggestions for the broadcast let me know.

So, what the heck does "totse" mean? Wikipedia says:

The name is an acronym for Temple of the Screaming Electron.
Totse was a San Francisco website and former BBS dedicated to storing text files on a variety of subjects and viewpoints, many of which were unusual or controversial.

Seems to be more behind this station than some kid playing songs on the radio.

Sounds like HIS agenda is promoting his website (which I won't give a click). May as well advertise laundry detergent. So, if I request that he play anti gay marriage songs, he'll broadcast that world wide? (well, TRY to with a 90 watts and crummy ground mounted vertical. Wonder how many radials he has on that?). Or perhaps pro Sikh programming? Anti North Korea. Whatever, just SOMETHING with substance. I'm still waiting for someone that has a real agenda and the guts to put it out there on the airwaves. Even locally, we had a guy who tried to get a community FM radio station on legally. Couldn't get a low power license no matter how much $$ he put out. Fine, he went on as a pirate. Had PSAs, commercials, the works. FCC shut him down. He came back. FCC shut him down. He finally moved to a nearby town and got his low power license there and he's still going after 25 years. http://www.wfaq.com/history.htm

Come on you "pirate broadcasters", man up! Let's hear something worth while!

3260 kHz Radio Madang

3260 kHz Radio Madang in with a very good solid S6 signal right now at 1118 UTC with nice local flavored music. An unusually good signal from PNG-land this morning.

Nice on the PNG. I heard some cool stuff in the past from PNG on 90 meters, but it's been tough the last decade or two.

Can't sleep. Caught a nice insomniac soother-9760kHz, 0600utc hour, "Nihon SW BC Co." out of Nagara, Japan. Playing some decent jazz which is a nice nightcap with the fades. 50,000 watts transmission. Nice s9 with +10 peaks here.
Japan has more of an appreciation for our old school music than we do it seems. I hear R Japan rocking our older stuff a lot too:) 'night.

Early Sunday morning, 1000z (4am local) Voice of the People (50kw clandestine), South Korea, 3480khz. Poor signal, so tentative ID on this one, but all alone, so probably them. :^] My first ever South Korea station. Could actually hear two transmitters, one on ( I forget exactly) 3480.2khz and 3480.8khz. The NASWA spreadsheet lists Kyonggi-do and Goyang but one is a provence and the other is a city, so ??. I suppose there could be some jamming, but I only heard one program. New one!

Oh I'm sure it was Voice of the People. I get an unusually good reception for that station.

This morning 4am local/1100UT I even caught Radio Fly 3915khz, but not for 5960k ever. Conditions awesome last few days. Unfortunately I don't do the reception reports so I have not been keeping score very well with my logs. In this past week I have been able to receive AIR India for a first time in several years of DXing using different antenna setups, radios and different locations across USA (but mostly in the west).

Nice catch! ^^^

Just a quick note, last night at about 0400z I had what I believe to be Cuba's Radio Progresso on 4,785khz putting in a whopper of a signal here, just as loud as RHC on 5,040khz and R. Rebelde 5,025khz (S9 + 10db). Never heard before, will check again tonight to see if this is a new addition to the daily fare on 60 meters.

I don't know the schedule of them yet, so who knows? :^)

I don't have DX Atlas on this computer, but just guesstimating, I suppose Tajikistan might be right on the greyline terminator for sunrise at 0430z leading this to be a possibility and you being on the west coast helps.
