Hey guys currently i just bought a uniden bc72xlt except i am unable to monitor the snow birds or any other jets... This is due to not being able to monitor the UHF military band of like 250 ish...

Do you guys have a recommended scanner that will do this? I was not looking to spend that much cash.

Thanks,

Dani

Hi dani190, welcome to RadioReference :)

We have an airshow coming up in Toronto, are you interested in that one?
If so, here is a link to some freq's (VHF) that your scanner should be able to hear: Toronto Airshow Frequencies

As far as upgrading your scanner, check out a PSR 300 or BC 346XT, which would be for sale at Durhamradio. You'd be in the $200 CDN range.

and will the BC 346XT or the other scanner be able to pickup the snowbirds 265 channel or the f15 channels?

il take a guess that the PSR 300 is very similar to the pro-164

The uniden i dont think does the frequencies i listed as needed.

Is the psr 300 a good unit? i may go to durham radio on saturday and pick it up

The 300 and the 164 are the same internally, outside is cosmetically different. The only current Uniden handheld that has the milair band in it, is the 396XT. I don't have either the 300 or the 164, but I do have the base/mobile 163. Very satisfied with the milair reception on the radio. Using Win97 allows you to program the radio with ease, and also lets you get an idea how the radio is setup. You can get it at:
Software for RadioShack PRO-series (PRO-92, 93, 95, 96, 97, 99, 163, 164, 106, 197) and GRE PSR-series (PSR-500, 600, 300, 400) scanners

Larry
