Total newbie looking to get a scanner mainly for home use, but will occasionally use it traveling. In my research I'm finding that simulcast transmissions can be an issue for receiving some digital broadcasts, but I'm not sure if that applies to my area? Looking at the Benton County Law Enforcement section and it shows simulcast from 8 different transmitters/repeaters. I'd ideally like to get a HomePatrol 2, but don't want to drop the $ if it's not going to work well. Any advice?

Look at an SDS100 or 200....
Not cheap, but will deal with simulcast better than anything.

Or, go cheap and get a couple of RTL-SDRs and use SDR-Trunk. You would need a computer to do this.

Too bad we didn’t live closer, I am up by Lewis County and I own a radio business and do all kinds of custom radio programming and I could recommend a good desktop for you and your area.
