Nothing come up in searching and I did not find anything for 154.490 either.

Maybe take a drive near the camp ground and search with close call or signal stalker.

They are most likely using FRS or MURS and wouldn’t need a license. Next time you are there just scan the low power UHF frequencies.

When I’m business hunting I always start by scanning frs, murs and business common(all bands). After that if I fail, I’ll go to close call and hope I get what I want

That is a Motorola VX-261 with a UHF antenna. I see Amazon sells them "16 frequencies pre-programmed" and shipping from stock which probably means GMRS and "Color Dot" channels. If it is something they bought off the internet they are probably operating illegally with no license. Thar radio does require a license.

So, searching the GMRS and Color Dot Business channels is where you will likely find them.

Finding license info for many resorts and attractions is often futile, if they even have a license. These attractions are often owned by some obscure corporation.

In the case of Lake George Escape, they are owned by Equity Lifestyle Properties that owns hundreds of Mobile Home Parks, Campgrounds and RV Parks around the country. For RV and Campgrounds they have 2 subsidiaries: Thousand Trails and Encore Resorts.

Encore Resorts owns Lake George Escape and also Lake George Schroon Valley and Alpine Lake in your area. The only license found in a nationwide FCC data search is a VHF license for Equity Lifestyle DBA Thousand Trails for VHF at one site in California.

If you see a site with radios, Close Call is probably the only way to find their frequency. Illegal use of GMRS or Color Dot radios is very common with use of legitimate FRS or MURS radios also a possibility. Licensed use of Color Dot or other business frequencies on a wide area basis issued to the parent company is also possible.

I'm an RV guy also. Sometimes I can catch the property personnel, sometimes not. I can virtually guarantee you that you won't find them licensed. As stated above, the are probably using a no-license-needed "dot" frequency. I usually find that RV parks try not to use FRS so that their customers don't listen to them. Some RV properties are too large for "close call" to work.

Here's a suggestion that I have done. I've put a portable scanner in my pocket with close call on and the volume down. I would find a reason to visit the main office. If I was a frequent visitor to the property I'd usually know them and could chat. I'd tell them that I was in the radio business and noticed their portable. They'd usually show it to me. I innocently key it up if I couldn't see any frequency info on the display. The scanner in my pocket would catch the key-up and lock on to it. Then I had them.

With that said, be careful what you wish for. Sometimes it's better not hearing what they have to say or listening to them air their "dirty laundry". It's like eating at your favorite restaurant - if you knew what went on behind the kitchen doors you might not want to go back again.

I have gone to front desks at places and said there is no tp in the men's room or can we get some towels to our room.. Usually they key right up and close call gets it. I set my 436 to record prior..
