I take my Unication G5 to work. I commute from Cranston, up to Johnston, Scituate and then Foster. Once we get into Scituate/Foster and I am monitoring RISCON NORTH zone, there are a few areas where I get "Out of range" on the radio.....then within a few seconds, "In range". This happens in at least 7 or 8 spots. Using a Remtronix 800 mhz rubber duck and the radio is in a holder on dash. Antenna in clear view of windshield. I am wondering if the public service people on RISCON's North zone have this problem too. I have been taking the Unication with me when I am out on the road to test its range. It works much better with the Remtronix antenna compared to the stock stubby duck. But in town, Cranston, Providence the stubby duck is fine. I am guessing there are no towers for RISCON in the rural areas of the state. Or there are simply just dead spots where 800 mhz cant get thru.
