My PSR-600 has started receiving random frequencies. After a second or two, there is a loud beep from the speaker and the audio cuts off. It does this continuously. Any ideas?

I haven't been able to catch it again. When I do, I will provide a sample.

TUNE Mode, au 154.385000, ATT on

Nothing else enabled. No changes made to settings since turned on several days before this started.
I am beginning to suspect a thermal issue.

Are you using it with the factory power supply? Do you notice any dimming in the backlight and/or display when it exhibits this behavior? Sometimes a failing power supply can cause erratic behavior.

Yes it is the original equipment. No, there are no other symptoms. I turned the scanner off overnight and have not had the problem since. We'll see if it comes back after another few days of constant operation.

:) Dave, I am not sure of the construction of your scanner so please forgive if not a good suggestion. Is it possible there are two PCB's connected by pins inside the scanner? If so, one or a couple pins may be tarnished. If separated and reconnected it may be just enough to permit 100% continuety. Just a thought. Lets hope it is already cleared of it's issue but if it happens again, think about it (also, might be a good idea to check for any loose plugs if present inside?). :)
