Is there any low band still in use in FL? I know FHP is on the SLERS system but are they using low band at all anymore as a backup? Thanks.

FHP abandoned low band totally, years back. You wont find *any* state law enforcement activity there...

There are still some state parks on 44.76 that havent moved to vhf. State corrections at some smaller facilites that weren't lucky enough to get a P25 conventional system, or the rest that havent been forced into sloppyslers yet, on 45.42.

DOT still uses 47mhz for primary comms, hit and miss depending on where you are on its level of use.

Lots of utility co-op's still down there.

Most folks just don't have a good antenna for 30-50. Get a decent antenna up, youll be amazed what you'll find down there.

The Tomoka Correctional facility in Volusia County is one of those who are on 45.42. I have the DOT programmed for my district but have never heard anything.

South Florida Water Management District is still licensed for 30.94, 30.98, and 31.02. I don't know if they still use these or not; I haven't heard them active in a very long time.

Florida just recently built a state wide VHF low band repeater system for the FDOT. Outputs are in the 47.xx range; inputs are in the 45.xx range, with different DPL codes in use for the inputs and outputs. Here in south Florida you typically won't hear very much on it; people prefer to utilize cell phones.

Thanks for the replies, the last week I have heard the Missouri HP in the early evening just after sunset it was pretty cool. The summer tropospheric ducting conditions seem to have started.

While perusing the FCC database for Monroe County, Florida this evening, I encountered some low band licenses for some parks down the Keys, and in downtown Key West 39.10 and 39.18 MHz were licensed. I remember those being used by Maryland State Police, but have no idea why they would even bother with them down there if they had been abandoned years ago.

There is no indication that they are used, but who knows if they have a radio sitting there in case everything completely craps out after a hurricane passes through? That might be their only comms for a time.

Tomoka has 2 800 MHz repeaters on property. One is Astro, the other analog. They only use the 45.42 when away from the facility (work details and such).

Not meaning to hijack, but wondering do they use the repeaters for themselves or is it part of the county system? I cannot find any 800 MHz frequencies for Tomoka. The database only lists the 45.42. There is an 800 freq for a facility in Orange County as they are in the same district as Tomoka.

Tomoka's repeaters are standalone units for the facility. They use one channel for Admin and one for Operations.

855.8125 is analog for Ops
851.4000 is Astro for Admin

I'm going to submit database updates for the central Florida facilities.
