• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Are the newer (last couple of years) M7100IP natively P25 digital capable, or is this just an extra option? We have a few that are "M7100IP" and then several more that are slightly older "M7100" (no 'ip') and I was trying to determine what the difference or upgrade was to add the 'ip' to the end.

The sales brochure indicates the radio will do P25 digital conventional, but I had assumed before that this was an available option for purchase. I recently started to wonder if it was standard, but I haven't been able to find an answer. I know we were paying close to 3k for each of the most recent radios, but I'm not sure what options were purchased or sold to us. (we just used them in conventional analog mode anyway)

Some earlier M series radios can't do P25 - the model number ending in 'V72' is what tells you that it can do it. It is a purchased option though, so your radio must be feature enabled in order to actually operate in the P25 mode.

Look for features 33 (P-25 CAI) and or 39 (P-25 Trunking) to see if your radio can do P-25.

All M7100 radios are (at least potentially) P25 CAI capable. The 725M was the first mobile that had P25 capability, and all subsequent radios have been able to do it.

My M7100IP did not have the option when I bought it, so I had to order it (33). Works like a charm now in IMBE conventional.

Any chance you can tell me about what that costs per radio? I had an e-mail off to a contact at Harris about a week ago and have yet to hear anything back.

It was $350.00 for the P25 Conventional. I also ordered the FPP option, which was another $105.00. This was a few years ago when they were still called M/A-Com, so I don't know if they've gone up in price.

MAHG-PL7K $105 for Direct Frequency Entry
MAHG-CA $350 for P25 CAI for Conventional operation
