More than $2 million in federal funds this year will help several Macomb County communities buy radios, which are to complete a county-wide communications system to be used in the case of a large-scale emergency.
County officials have spent the past three years installing the infrastructure for an 800-megahertz system for emergency communications that would link area police agencies with each other, with hospitals and with policing agencies around the state.
