Madison Co FD encryption

Was there a pacific incident that made Madison county fire department go to encryption? I just find it kind of odd that the County fire department is all encrypted, but the city fire departments are wide open.

usually, it's political to the particular administration, we see it all over the country, some people are just way more paranoid than others

Or, it could be whackers or people interfering with fireground operations. I heard that was the reason behind Windsor, ON FD's move to encryption. But you're correct, it's usually politics at play.
