Ok, need a little help.

What town do you live in, including state?

Who do you want to listen to?

Do you have a computer with a USB port that you can use to program the scanner with?

Do you have the USB programing cable?

Do you have a program like WIN97 to load the scanner with?

I dont know what win97 is Unless that windows 97 I have a laptop and I think its wondows 8

Win97 is a program from Software for RadioShack PRO-series (PRO-92, 93, 95, 96, 97, 99, 163, 164, 106, 197) and GRE PSR-series (PSR-500, 600, 300, 400, 310, 410) scanners for managing the data in the Pro-163/Pro-164 scanners and the older Pro-97/Pro-2055 anlong with the GRE models. It would make it alot easier to set the scanner up and make changes at a later date.

There is also a easier to understand scanner at Mark's Scanners

Hope you're not disappointed, but the 163/164 are analog trunking scanners. The 106/197 are digital trunking scanners. Good suggestion to inform yourself about the scanner.

Looking a little deeper into the systems used in your area, you should get a digital scanner like the Pro-106/Pro-197 as there is a digital system being tested for that area.
