Listening to the scanners here, and the area in and around me (Leduc, Nisku, Beaumont, Wetaskiwin, Camrose, etc) are rife with accidents, highways are skating rinks, RCMP are rescuing stranded motorists left and right, there's a tow ban in effect (On officer just arrested a tow truck driver who was fishing people out of the ditches along the QE2).. There's accident reports coming in avery 3 or 4 minutes at least.

In all my years of living in Alberta, I don't remember the last time it was this scary out there. The RCMP and all rural responders are maxed out.

Even the hotels are maxed out with stranded folks. The RCMP are mentioning taking people to the airport terminals...

God help anyone out on the highways tonight..

Was really nice in Southern Alberta today. High of 4'C with west wind, plenty of sun. Problem now adays is people don't know how to drive in bad weather. Can't drive right when it is nice so can't expect them to drive when it's bad. It is just about officially winter, so can expect more of winter driving conditions. Web cams showed that this weather was basically in the Edmonton area. Red Deer and south escaped this weather today.
