Hooked up my 2096 in the truck yesterday. I had to go to Columbus. (From southern Ohio)

I had the TG's for the towers in each of the counties I went through and for Franklin County. I let it scan in the "Open" mode because I wanted to see what all it might hear....

It was pretty neat. I heard OSP Jackson all the way from home up into Columbus.

As a matter of fact, the scanner never shut up after I got to Chillicothe on US35 - then onto US23 North!!!

In the Chillicothe area, there was a lot of prison guard chatter.

I was using an Antenex Model TRAB8213 antenna on the scanner. It was mounted on the fender of the truck.

Congrats It must be the terrain because when i listen to marcs the control channel for my county goes dead in some spots in the county and then is strong and i am using a old bag phone 800mhz trunk antenna.

I HAD that same problem. If I left sight of the tower site, I couldn't hear ANYTHING.

I was using a mag mount 800MHz antenna. I'd checked the connections. They showed to be OK....

I was about to give up. Then I talked to one of the radio techs when he was at the office.

He had a "new" style NMO mount with coax. We put that on my truck. (It has all solderless connections for the PL connector.) This coax is prefit with an end that terminates to accept ANY normal style connector, a standard PL, the mini UHN, the BNC whatever you want to use. You simply screw it on, snug it with your pliers and it's there!!!!

Anyway, once I had the coax installed, I got the Antenex model antenna, put it on & now the scanner hears like I thought it should have all along!!!!

I can hear several towers from my driveway now where before, I could only hear the Gallipolis tower.
