Here is some wefax I picked up here in Tampa, Florida from Coast guard stations in New orleans and Boston. Also an iceberg analysis broadcast from Hailfax, Nova Scotia, Canada .

CG New Orleans - 4317.9
CG Boston - 6340.5 -1.9khz
Nova Scotia, Canada - 6496.4

My equipment: Icom Ic-r75, WeatherFax2000 software, and a 75ft Longwire antenna.

Very nice images.
BTW, who operates on 4.375 USB? Heard them last night talking about the eclipse.

Wow, those are really clear images! They put my best to shame! (Icom IC-R1500 with random wire antenna... low-tech but surprisingly sensitive. And surprisingly noisy.)

Sorry Shortwavewave, but press FAX has been pretty much dead for at least a decade. There has been some rare reports here and there, but satellite technology has pretty much wiped the slate clean.

Some good pics with little static tracks.

I get best from NO at 8502 and Halifax at 10536 with 4271 next choice.

When you have a decent Halifax signal, try 4608 for London. Sometimes, on those rare days, the air seems to open and you will great a good signal.

Happy hunting....

Anyone have a page that lists various stations and their locations? Any near the Eastern US/how far do these signals travel?

For a world wide schedule:

http://www.nws.noaa.gov/om/marine/rfax.pdf

I have friend in Germany that has received New Zealand with a confirmed reception of almost 11000 miles. I have a QSL from 6200 miles with Tokyo at 5KW. It really depends on propagation conditions.

It's like an oxymoron to ask for a QSL card with a radiofax as you do have the proof. I just like to give them reception reports with a hard copy from my location. Chile sent me some cool stuff via registered mail, I guess to actually verify my location from their end (a little over 5100 miles for that one).

This is just a niche in a great hobby.

A good source for FAX information:

Man, I gotta dust off my 525...
Been a while... This one is dated 2001
I don't recall the frequency but, at the time I was thinking this was a good catch:

My first WEFAX attempt. Obtained from 4317 USB, New Orleans, LA. Used a Sony 7600GR with a random wire indoors, and a laptop running Multipsk. This is the 72 HR Wave Prediction/Swell Direction.

This is very cool! Makes going to weather.com kinda lame in comparison, lol.

OK, last one for sure. Switched to the Icom 706-MKIIG with my Hustler vertical. Quite a difference!

You should have seen the sea swell FAX I received this morning, crystal clear. I should have saved a copy of it.
