I don't know much about your area but I doubt there are any active EMA frequencies to listen to. It seems that the Alabama EMA's are more after-the-fact type responders than engaging in any radio comms prior to severe weather. The best thing you can do is program in the frequencies at http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=RR&ctid=48, especially the fire departments and road departments, who often have up to the minute information. The Marshall County Skywarn ham net operates on 147.38(PL 100) and 146.920(PL 77) and you may get useful information from those two frequencies as well. I'm sure someone closer to your area will chime in with more. Thursday looks to be a pretty active day so keep your eyes and ears open.
