I have an older maxtrac radius UHF radio. It was already hooked up in a car when I got it. I recently had this radio removed and put into a new car and they hooked it up slightly differently.
the radio has the standard male/female power cable and it also has a hot wire plugged in to the port with the external speaker wires. On my old vehicle, the main power cord was connected to an always hot 12V and the 12v wire with the speaker (assuming this is a switch wire) was plugged into a fuse box that shut off with the vehicle.
Now on my new vehicle both 12v wires are plugged into the fuse panel that loses power when the vehicle shuts off (fuse panel is controlled by a charge guard.)
which of these ways is preferable to connect this radio?
Thanks
