310 ambulance services with 1,884 vehicles

In Massachusetts, private ambulances usually operate on their "company" radio channels; and fire ambulances usually operate on their local fire department radio channel. There are a few 3rd service and police ambulances that operate primarily on 3rd service channels or police channels. Possibly the only police ambulance still operating on a police channel is Mattapoisett. Boston City ambulance operates on 462.975R; and Worcester UMass amb operates on the city TRS as a 3rd service. There is a large amount of interconnection between the ambulance services and the local police and fire radio channels.

Boston MedFlight helos use 461.45 simplex regularly in the Boston area. Not sure if Worcester LifeFlight helo still uses 155.16 or not.

In the Berkshires, we have, that I am aware of, just two Commercial Ambulance Services, they do have their own frequencies but also operate on the County/City Dispatch frequencies as well. The Commercial Ambulance Services also share our local Hospital's "HEAR" frequency with the Local County/City ambulances where they report patient status to the ER as they are in transit to the hospital.
