• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I purchased a Moto MC2100 at my local hamfest. The previous owner was able to program it for his needs I am using the MCS2000 CPS Version R02.02.00 to reprogram. It communicates with the radio, but I get an error box that states
"No user function provided to convert block type to block ID for block with type 0 Unpack failed."

Ideas?

I just Googled the Motorola MC2100, & it comes back as a handheld computer. What radio do you really have? I believe you probably have a European version of a MCS2000, & if so, the software isn't sold here. Barnett Electronics has been trying to sell one ON E-Bay, & he clearly states it takes software not available in the US. Since the seller was able to program this radio, you should have asked him for the "disc" when you laid out the cash. GARY N4KVE

That's a Euro radio and will require MC2100 RSS/CPS. You would have to purchase it from a Motorola dealer in Europe.

AND just to put a cap on it, that radio and a lot more are some how arriving here in the states by other means then e-bay and, if ANY RADIO comes from Europe, it is A) not legal, (even for hams) B) no repair parts are available, and C) the software is not avail even form MOTO.

You call MOTO about it and they will laugh at you and say good luck.

If you research on the internet (google) it took me less than 5 minutes to find the CPS for that radio. So there is no need to call Motorola and get laughed at. Though I get good laughs from cabletechs posts a lot!

A) Yes it is legal for hams.
B) The hardware is the same as an MCS2000 so replacement parts aren't a problem.
C) The CPS is out there in the wild so if Motorola Europe won't sell it to you, I'm sure a resourceful person can find it.

A friend had one and we had no problem programming it up.
