Here's what you do. Go to Mickey D's and order your Happy Meal then put your scanner on "search". You should soon find the Frequency of the drive up window as you enjoy your cheeseburger.:D

I have been doing that for 2 years and i have never got the frequency:D. I did notice there headsets were the same as a local burger king and when i was able to listen to the burgarking it was in the 800 range and was VERY static even though i was right at the drive through window. That was the first/last time i ever heard them.

There was a time when many used VHF and had some power because I used to be able to hear them a few miles away. But now most use very low power and have migrated to UHF. It is not unusual to not hear them even at the drive-thru, even using signal stalker or close call. About the best I could suggest would be to park outside, near the building during a lunch or dinner rush, then systematically search frequency ranges. You could even go inside using earbuds and discreetly do the same while sitting in the corner sipping your soda. Search through blocks of freqs while the drive-thru is very busy. Based on the coverage of your scanner, something like 150-174, 406-450, 450-512, 800-870, 870-960 (or however you want to break them down into sections). If you're persistent, you should be able to finally find it. Or if you know someone who works there, maybe they can tell you what frequency they operate on. Good luck.

are the freq current
No. They can vary by individual restaurants. A lot of them are now using digital spread spectrum systems that operate in the ISM bands and don't require licenses. Do a Google search for "QSR wireless intercom" and see what some of the manufacturers are selling now. There are also several older threads about this here on RR.

I can pick up my local burger king (almost a half mile away) by doing a search on the F/G/MURS band. ITs on freq 154.57000

"Minimum power to accomplish the desired communication."

Sheriff, you can usually find stuff like this looking at the FCC ULS License Search You can do an advanced search for business licenses by zip code.

Also chains like this are in the Wiki (or so I'm told it's difficult to navigate so I can't find the link to it); and sometimes slip in to the database.

BTW Semi related if businesses is something you're enjoying listening to Walmart is usually Ch4 and/or CH5 of the MURS band, and the Menards in Sheboygan is also on MURS.

To bad you don't have a 396xt. I was at Wendys just now and turned on close call. Found them as soon as I put in CC Mode.
