• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I am currently trying to make way for analog MDC to be on a P25 system using a bride, I have the bridge mostly figgered out but what I need help with is figuring out a way to log radio IDs on MDC. is there a logger for MDC that works somewhat the same as a logger on P25, and if so, what is it called?

no, sorry for the confusion
I am trying to make a analog repeater and bridge it into a P25 system, but the owner of the system said that I need MDC and to be able to record logs.

Ill have to look back in my archives, but there was software from many years back that would decode and log MDC ID's. You would need a computer of some type and a way to pull audio from the radio but it didn't require any additional hardware. I will check but I believe it was called WINMDC.

I took a look and it was indeed called WINMDCD. It is opensource abandonware and unsupported, however here is a link to it: ANTISTATIC

I've never made winmdcd work so good luck with it.

Is the system manager looking for your devices to use mdc or the repeater. I would think MDC from end users so the logger can determine who is on the radio is what he is looking for. Most likely into a console port to log MDC ? Ive done similar system integrations and thats normally what they are looking for. Really no need to have the repeater ID. More info needed.

The vocoder used for P25 wasn't meant to pass tones, it was optimized to pass human speech. This is why paging tones sound awful when passed through a P25 talkpath. MDC1200 tones passed through P25 sound like a muffled burst of failure. I doubt you'd be able to decode it after it is passed through a bridge.
For logging purposes, you need your decoder to listen directly on the analog side of things if you want it to be reliable.

Your bridge better sound good. If I listen to it and it sounds like total failure, I am going to make fun of it and you :) (but really, please try to make it sound good).

I used to use winmdc and scanrec. They worked well, but I had to abandon use for some reason- I think it wouldn't work on 64 bit??

SDRTrunk with an SDR listening to the analog channel works, though I'm not sure how reliably.

See if you can find an old Motorola L1475 tone remote. I think it has a serial port to log the MDC
