Anyone know why MDOT has removed cameras on I-275 from Michigan to the I96/M14 split. I could check in the past to view a problem. Is this due to repairs or something?

You know they have removed alot of cameras over the last few years from the site.2 years ago you could view every camera along metro freeways now only half you could watch on I75 all the way up to M59 now it only go to 12 mile.Maybe some cameras have been taken down from the freeway ? It just seems like they have alot less cameras on the site than before
I have noticed over the past year or so while driving along I-96 and I-275 that they have been replaceing all the old cameras, including the towers, and electronic message boards with new ones. The new cameras appear to be "dome" style instead of the old rectangular pan & tilt models.
Don't know if they are intentionally keeping them off the MDOT web site or if they haven't added them to the site yet. I do know that these new cameras are working because (listening to the scanner) I hear the MSP dispatchers tell responding Troopers something like, "Units responding to the accident on 275, i see it on camera; it's on the left sholder south of 7 Mile".

Thanks DSW760. I just checked I-275 and most of the cameras are back on. 11-29-10 6:30 P.M.
