Ok ive been looking into listening to MedFlight today.Earlier I couldnt find what system they were on.Then I found a forum post here on RR that talked about them being on the AEP system. Then I found another post tht said that they were on the Ohio MARCS system. When I look on the AEP system there is only one MedFlight talkgroup. But when I look on Ohio MARCS there are around 8.Which system do they use?
BTW the post that talked about Medflight being on the AEP system was posted in 2005 and the one that talked about being on Ohio MARCS was from 2001.

Medflight is definitely using the MARCS system. I hear them here in Cuyahoga Falls on talk group ID 10912 (Medflight Ground Ops)

Metro Life Flight is also on MARCS. They use talk group ID 38224.

The other one of interest that I have heard on a regular basis is Life Air. They also use MARCS and can be found on talk group ID 37072

I use the wildcard feature on my Pro-106 because I am always looking for new Id's.

I hope this helps to answer your question.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.3.3; en-us; DROIDX Build/4.5.1_57_DX5-26) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1)

Medflight uses both systems and there is no rhyme or reason other than if they are not getting into one system they will switch to the other.

I maintain the MedFlight radios. Our primary communications is on Ohio MARCS. We have backup communications on AEP EDACS, Franklin County Public Service, Columbus City Public Safety and Conventional VHF. All of our aircraft have Motorola XTL5000s, Ericsson EDACS and Technisonic TFM550 radios.

MFHELI1 on MARCS is used for primary communcations for all aircraft except MF7 and they use MFHELI3. MF7 is the shared aircraft between MedFlight and Healthnet and this talkgroup is common for both Columbus MedComm and Huntington MedComm for dispatching and operations of this aircraft.

MFHELI2 is a backup talkgroup. The talkgroup MEDFLT on MARCS is our interop channel programmed for all MARCS users. Any MARCS user can call Columbus MedComm on that channel 24/7. It can also be used for scene communications. MFTAC1 and MFTAC2 are extra channels. MFMICU is for our 3 Mobile Intensive Care Units.

When the XTL5000 is changed to a different talkgroup, the Pilot will talk to MedComm on the AEP EDACS MED-HELI. An example would be the medical crews giving report to a hospital on that hospitals specific talkgroup.

We maintain a backup talkgroup on the Franklin County system called MEDCOMM. We also have 11MEDFLT on the Columbus system that is used for anyone in Franklin County to talk to MedComm 24/7.

For Collumbus local operations, we use our VHF 155.400MHz channel. When inside the I-270 outerbelt, pilots use this to talk to MedComm. This channel is also used for flight following other aircraft that enter into the Columbus Airspace like Toledo LifeFlight and Cleveland Metro LifeFlight.

Let me know if you have further questions.
