Hey all, I’m up in central NH but I’m interested in programming some of the MA based med flight operations in my scanner to see if I can get anything. I currently can pick up DHART on their Manchester repeater and LifeFlight of Maine out of Sanford.

Does anyone know of, or have a list of medical helicopter dispatch or ops frequencies that I might be able to get up here to the north? I know I’ve heard Boston MedFlight before using the DHART radio system while flying in NH. Hoping there might be some repeaters close enough to the NH boarder to pick something up.

Thanks!

UMASS (Worcester) LifeFlight using 155.16 118.8. Been a while since I monitored them so no idea if they are still active on the channel

455 PM - 461.45 - PL 107.2 - dispatcher says "Life Flight 1 17 minutes to the Brigham"

I am pretty sure that this channel is used for dispatch and response by Boston Med Flight units - and also is used to coordinate all medevac helos coming into Boston area trauma centers - which may include Lahey in Burlington (and South Shore in Weymouth if they have a helipad)

listening to 461.45 today for an hour - just heard Med 13 and maybe Med 14 - Med 13 was heading back to ?Mansfield? with 3 - not sure what Med 14 was up to - its a simplex channel and the helos might be just transmitting 10 watts

503 PM - just heard the Life Flight helo transmit on 461.45 with PL 107.2 - and the Boston Med Flight dispatcher answered - also using 461.45 PL 107.2 - so we can conform that both the helos and dispatchers are using 461.45 PL 107.2

I'm pretty sure South Shore Hospital doesn't have a helipad. Norwood had one before they flooded. Hopefully they'll get themselves rebuilt before 2030 🙄

I’ve heard helicopter traffic on the CMED frequencies from Nantucket and the vineyard talking to Boston.
As Gary’s mentioned I also get Boston med flight
On the Kingston/Plymouth 900 MHz ICE system

there is quite a bit out there besides the uhf listed stuff.

South Shore doesn't seem to have a helipad from looking at on Google Maps. Doesn't matter as since it's not a Level 1 Trauma Center no one is going to fly patients in. I suppose they have a designated LV for flying patients out if needed. To bad NAS South Weymouth is gone.

Lahey is a Level 1 and just finished construction of their helipad. It might not even be open yet.

I'm not sure when Norwood will reopen. They were originally say 2-3 years, but then again they didn't say 2-3 years from when.

There are no helipads registered within 20kM of the hospital.

Norwood is owned by Steward Healthcare, that should answer all questions about how long it will take to reopen.

Knowing what I do about Steward, my original thought was that they would try to just close the hospital permanently and sell the land. It's likely that behind the scenes the Attorney General and others pressured them to rebuild. She didn't want to let them close Quincy, but finally struck a deal to let them do that as long as they kept a free standing emergency room for two years.

Correct, we have 3 LZ's [two near Schools and one behind a Medical Center] which vary in use by Day/Time/Season
due to Snow on a Ball Field, Football games, Day/Night as well as many other factors, then Ground Transport to/from the Hosp via SS EMS

There is a Helo Pad at NAS SoWey, but it was built for the original developers of the base and has never been seen in use, yet has the lights, markers and remote LZ Light activation enabled [but also not on any map] - reasonable, a haul to SS Hosp from there, where the other 3 LZ's are 2-3 min's vs the 15-20 [Rockland/Abington line]

Umass Lifeflight and Boston Medflight are the two you can get and have already been posted. You can add in there Hartford Lifestar, they do occasionally get up that way, 155.385 PL 82.5 They transmit off a single tower on Box Mountain in CT so depending on your location you probably wont hear dispatch but might catch the aircraft if they havent already switched over. Lifestar 3 is the base out in Westfield Ma that normally gets those northern calls, Lifestar 1/2 are in CT.

Whenever we fly into another operations service area we switch over to their dispatch for flight following/coordination, also typically getting out of our home radio systems range too makes us switch over. Boston is one of the places that even if you still have radio reception to Worcester/Hartford you still switch over to Medflight, they have 4 aircraft and are very busy and its much easier and they want you on their freq when you are there. They then pass the info along to home dispatch via landlines.

You can put 155.205 PL 67.0 in there for Skyhealth. We are based in Long Island, VHF transmitter is in New Haven CT but we use the One voice network too.
