Hello everyone...

Can anyone confirm that Miami Dade PD is live on P25 Encrypted?

Reason I ask is I just bought a Scanner that picks ups Phase 1&2, but for some reason I am not able to pick up any talk of those frequencies. I know they had major issues and removed the encryption portion. I maybe wrong as my info comes filtered down the pipe.

Thanks in advance

MIAMI DADE P25

All dispatch talkgroups are unencrypted.
The only encrypted dispatches are Miami Gardens.
There are TAC channels both encrypted and unencrypted.
Programming is tricky depending on where you live.
Reception outside Dade is not good.

JANFINE, why do you always push the yahoogroup instead of posting here? I think you could really contribute to the Florida forums.

Miami-Dade County Public Services (Project 25) Trunking System, Miami, Florida - Scanner Frequencies

Can you guys help me out and guide me in the right direction on how to use my scanner to pick up P25?

I have attached 2 screenshots on what my software and radio have in place.

This Screenshot Shows Site MDPD Site 102 That Is Being Used For PD According RR. Photo by usmc70_14 | Photobucket

This Screenshot Shows The 150xx Talkgroups That According To RR Are NOT Encrypted. Dispatch Channels Are In This 150xx Talkgroup. Photo by usmc70_14 | Photobucket

Miami dade uses p25 simulcast and the new fancy scanners out today suck at demodulating it. The reason is the use what is called a discriminator tap which is really only good for analog. Vendors chose to invest in exterior features instead of a modern baseband solution.

So you will not get any audio. There are even vendors who sell products with features on the box that did not appear in the product.

Yahoo groups suck

First you have to create a yahoo account and then apply for access just to even view posts

Not only that the format of yahoo groups suck, it's like something from 1990s early Internet. Difficult to follow and track topics etc..

Yahoo Groups, Google Groups are a good compliment to RR and the other Forum BBS's

So folks prefer the BBS format, others prefer email (individual posts)

Just like Scanning. Some prefer Air, MilAir, Fed, Local PD/FD/EMS, Trunking, Business, Marine, Taxi's, Railroads, Cruise Ships, Military...etc

I had to laugh at the comment about Yahoogroups being old school. Almost had my DD go up thru the Nose, most of the forums are very similar to the EARLY internet days of Bulletin Boards (BBS) :D

Well SZ, speaking frankly and with all due respect, I can think of one good reason: less frivolous censorship. And not having your posts moved into what amounts to the RR trash heap only because your post has "encryption" somewhere in the title.

As far as I know Miami is still unencrypted on the dispatch channels, as it should be of course. How far are you from the area? What scanner did you buy? What kind of antenna set up do you have?

I am using a PRO 668 aka Grecom PSR 800 with a RS 800mhz antenna. As for location, I am right smack in the middle of the suburbs and close to the repeater sites for Miami Dade County.

I have actually used an SDR to view the spectrum to see which of the red or blue frequencies are the actual control channels being used. It seems that RR is not up to date on the control channels for this area. I've also only loaded the TG for dispatch locations. Pressed play, I do get the "T" blinking with signal and FM showing on the display but for some reason I get no audio.

At this point, I am stumped as I have tried everything I can possibly think of. Or maybe they went back to EDACS as they went to p25 encrypted but had to removed the encryption portion as they were having "officer safety issues" according to the media

My suggestion is only put site 2 in your radio. That is the Police site.
With the talkgroups only put in the 15xxx talkgroups.
The 27xxx and 30xxx talkgroups are encrypted.
If you put them in some scanners the scanner will try to track those and get locked up.
You will miss the 15xxx and think the radio can not get them.

Yahoo groups

I am the owner of the SEFLORIDA group on www.yahoogroups.com.
I spend my time scanning in Dade & Broward Counties.
We have over 500 users that share info.
I do not see a reason to post on a nationwide forum rather than a local one.
Once in a while I check out the Florida forum here.
Less than once a month. If I see something that I can contribute to then I post.
Much of the information on Radioreference for the Dade & Broward County area has come from me or one of my friends. I have spent a lot of time contributing to the Database here and asking for corrections to be made. Anyone that wants to share my info or info about South Florida should join my group.
I am running out of patience with Radioreference and don't plan on submitting or correcting any more in the future.

JANFINE, how are you...I followed your instructions with using the 102 site and 15xx talk groups to no avail. I am using the 396xt, arc software....The radio says it cant locate a Control Channel. Perhaps, something may have been left out on the last RR update on the system. I am stumped..

Any help from anyone would help...

Thanks.

Dan
