0915 EDT 234.500 active with Air / Air comms (sounds like a common freq) while SNAKE units are Air Air on 263.450, related activity on 299.500, 355.100
Terry,

Checked my list and I have 234.5 listed as a Customs A2A. The AM/FM would fit the procedures. AM/FNM swaps are also a hallmark of Sierra Nevada ops.

You have this as well for that freq
234.500 AR Duke MOA

makes me wonder if they are using it since it is an easy freq..... 2 3 4 5

East NC Airplane Vacation:
Kinston - no Drakken action on Sunday or Monday. On Tuesday, one of the A4's did engine testing. Nobody flew until I was at Seymour Johnson around 3p. (an outgoing flight was informed that 'Drakken is in the air')

Goldsboro - Decided to fish for Button numbers at Seymour Johnson. The only positively confirmed was 370.875 Tower as Button 3.
Buttons 4 & 5 are departure. I'm leaning toward Button 4 being 273.6 but could not confirm. While I was there, ground had 290.9 and 273.6 combined. Didn't hear any other UHF approach/departure while there.
Buttons 6 & 7 are Washington Center, presumably New Bern and Rocky Mount sectors. Neither were identified beyond that.
Button 37 appears to be Navy Dare Bombing range, per a/c discussion with the AF range on 349.1. Not sure, but assuming 358.8. Heard brief traffic on 378.65, but that may have been an attempt at contact on secondary after failing to reach the Navy range on its primary.
Also heard what I believe was 333rd FS using 253.2 for squadron front desk, and 327.375 and 313.95 for Air/Air, as an intended flight of four was split into two flights of 2 each.

Interesting observation at the CR Dairy Farm viewing spot. Only one pass by base police. He waved back one person who was between the
'Road Closed' sign and the perimeter fence, but moved on after that person complied.
On both Tuesday & Wednesday afternoons, Mohawk 11 (presumably VMFA-233 from Cherry Point) took out a block of the 'Burner' airspace up above FL 230, announced a MARSA freq of 364.35 and had a lot of action of some kind.
Engelhard, NC: Stayed Tuesday night at the Hotel Engelhard about 10mi west of AF Dare. AF range seemed to be done just after 5p. Recordings show that the last plane left Navy Dare about 2358 local. Went out there Wednesday from 10a-2:30p and almost no action except for a 'Hokie' callsign helo. NC Forestry may be been doing a controlled burn, but I couldn't ID that as a definite factor in how quiet the ranges were. Activity picked up sharply about 3p after I had left and was enroute to Columbia & Ahoskie. Had hoped to pick up a JTAC freq for the AF range. Navy range was using 342.4...same as last time I was there.

Cherry Point - was super quiet on Monday.

One of the best experiences around the Dare County ranges was that the 'Signal Stalker' in my PSR-600 actually picked up some air/air traffic on UHF--particularly as I got west around Lake Mattamuskeet. It shows you how quiet an RF environment it is out there if you're not hear a cell tower or a VIPER site.

Heard bits and pieces from PACK 41, "Whiskey 105... RAGE flight... GHOST flight" and another I didn't catch. Guessing a HUNTRESS freq as I wasn't in the room. Believe they said they'd be working the upper portion of W-105 (which it looks like they are).

W-105 is kinda on the edge for me depending on their altitude.

234.5 is often used by Selfridge-based CBP AMO H-60s (who preform the “Air Mobility Package” mission in NY and DC on occasion).

But I don’t think they switch between AM and FM? And I don’t know why they’d be in our area right now.
These were definitely fighter type aircraft

Couple GOLD tankers going to SLC Utah tonight.

GOLD-91 #18-46047 from Pease.
GOLD-81 #15-46070 from McGuire.
Picking up more F-35's?
GOLD-81,91 moving East as GOLD-81 shows for Bangor. Prob both will land there.
GOLD-91 did some initial tanking for a while but cut loose and now flying high Northeast at FL-350 so seems
GOLD-81 has the birds now.

Saw the one tanker depart SLC and he went up into SE Idaho to collect his chicks.. Explains that.
Must have their ER fuel tanks aboard as tankers cut both groups loose just before Iowa.
Tankers to Bangor so assume these guys will work their way North soon?

Thanks! One other SJ question. 320.1 and 338.6 still show for GSB on AirNav, but I didn't hear a peep on either the whole time I was down there. Any idea what their story is?

Something you don't see everyday on adsb-x. USN F-18 out of NTU in W72
Is this the same FA/18E going cross country making fuel stops tonight?
168881 comes back to VFA-105 F/18E normal callsign "Canyon" out of Oceana.
Wish all the Navy fighters did this :) Now turning North and dropping down towards NAS Fallon...
Right after landing showed callsign JOKER so maybe now with VFA-34
