I was using my sds 100 to a discovery of this system. I assume I should use the Midland 800mhz site? Can anyone give me some insight. If it isn't obvious, I'm not real well versed.

Not sure what you are asking. If you are looking to open your SDS to catch/search any TG being used, you press the button on the knob + ENTER to switch from Scan to Search mode (on the SDS200).

Sorry, I wasn't really clear. On the SDS 100 when you are running in discovery mode, you have to select a site. This system has 2 sites that are nearby, a VHF site and 800mhz site. I was curious which I should use when running in discovery mode.

Gotcha. I live near GATRRS in Travis County, am not familiar with the Midland setup. Absent any answer from someone more knowledgeable, I would pick one (probably start with 800) and run discovery for a week and then select the other and repeat.

The Midland site is south of Midland it is VHF/800.
The Gardendale site is in northwestern Midland CO., 800.
The Odessa site is at TXDOT Odessa 700.

It’s mostly DPS and TXDOT. Not much else. Midland VHF that is. I can’t pick up the 800 from far West Odessa. But I do pick up Odessa 700 and Midland VHF and all I get is DPS and some TxDOT

Around Austin, they use call signs such as "Nick", "Scott", "James", and "Rudy".

the HERO trucks may use something different, but they are all ENC for whatever reason...
