Why the designers didn't put milair in the 96 but did in the 97/2055 (neither are digital scanners, by the way) is beyond me. At one point - I don't know if this was really true - I had understood that GRE engineers were having an issue with cell images showing up in this band, and didn't cover that region so they could get FCC certification (something the cell images would have almost certainly screwed up). Perhaps they have finally solved that issue.
Yeah, at least for now if you want digital and milair, you need to get a Uniden. The new GREs coming out in a month or so look quite interesting. Of course, you also need to get a good antenna - a duckie on milair isn't worth much unless you're really close to a base or MOA.
You might want to stick this site in your pocket....

and since you're in their back yard, Langley flights are a real possibility for you, when you get a good milair scanner (the PRO-96 works just fine in the 138-144 mhz area, and that's where a number of Va ANG flights can be heard) In the Md.forum, we have a long running sticky for milair stuff, and have several freqs for the Va ANG - in addition, we have several Langley 1st FW freqs not on the Langley page above - it's possible this set is used when they're flying in our neck of the woods, and not locally, but who knows....)
I've gotta get ready for work - later on I'll attach a file with Va ANG stuff, but for now - here's the Langley list...73s Mike
[edit] Here's a quick list - comes from the first messages in the thread. I'll add more later if I find anything not in this list tonight when I get back to my laptop
