• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi. have a motorola HT1000 and a pyramid svr-200u repeater.
would like to mate them for a temporary vhf [150's]repeater @ my ski hill during the winter.
Would be charging the setup from solar.
any thoughts?
we have coverage issues that impede our work as ski patrollers

Is the HT1000 UHF as well? If so, unless you got a set of properly tuned duplexers that combination will make for a misearable UHF repeater.

looking in to that but i believe the repeater is uhf and our freq's are vhf.
am shopping for a vhf repeater but the basic question is will that work using a portable.
would like it to fit in a milkcrate sized container and charge by solar.
use a agm batt for freeze protection

From reading what you have, your setup will not work the way you want. The SVR200 is meant to mate with a high powered mobile radio for use with hand held radios. The configuration would be a VHF mobile mated with the SVR200 uhf vehiclar Repeater. You would then use UHF handhelds to communicate with the vhf mobile.

A security company that I used to work with used to use 2 motorola mobiles with a motorola based patch panel that allowed the mobiles to cross band repeat.

But, in your configuration either using a motorola brand unit or using the pyramid unit you will need at least convertacom to connect the handheld to work with the pyramid unit. But, why not buy an inexpensive mobile radio to connect to your vehicular repeater this would help inprove the reach of your radios. But, in determining your needs a UHF vehicular repeater will require UHF handhelds to communicate with it.

If you need any further info, let me know and I will be more than happy to give your further info.

you need to properly license for a VHF repeater, you can't just stick one up and have it work. you will need to reprogram your radios for the repeater freqs as well. since you must get a license for the repeater you WILL be forced to go narrow band now. if your HT1000's are not D revision(possibly C but i can't remember) then they will not go NB and must be replaced.

also keep in mind that VHF does not have a standard offset and if you are assigned frequencies too close together you could be looking at several thousand dollars JUST for the duplexer required.

if these radios are used for search and rescue or any form of public safety, then you need to do it right. shortcutting it will end up costing someone their life eventually.
