If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Monitor Talkgroup Scanning All TG's on System

I'm trying to monitor only 1 talkgroup on a P25 trunked system. I have the TG ID programmed properly within the Group ID Settings. Going to the Zone/Channel Settings, I see that the knob selector I have set this up on is set to Trunking TG - Monitor. When I select this knob position, I want to monitor only the 1 talkgroup. What keeps happening is that it somehow scans the entire system as if I have it set to scan my TG and a wildcard.

Am I missing something in the setting somewhere? I don't want it to scan, I just want to park on 1 TG. I've tried creating a new Group ID and swapping out the existing but it's not resolving the issue.

Luke,
Set that key to "TG Scan" from the pull down. It's a bit misleading because you aren't scanning talk groups, but that is where you have to set it.

"Trunking TG - Monitor" is a wildcard scan.

Very interesting and quite misleading lol I am still very green with this software and don't mess with it much so that could be at play too. Glad I grabbed your attention on here. Thank you!

Yeah, it took me a month of frustration to figure that one out...

New to the G5 as well, and this is confusing in the PPS - glad I saw this thread. So once you choose the 'TG-Scan' option at the top, how do you specify which single TG you want it to monitor (instead of scanning the whole list)? The 'Knob - Talk Group List' shows all the TGs I've imported as available.

You click the one you want to scan and add it to either the priority or non-priority list (though if it's a single talkgroup, doesn't matter which it goes in)

Ah, ok. That's what I was missing. The list on the left are 'available' TGs, but only the ones added to the right (Priority & Non-Priority) are the ones that are scanned. That way I can load all my TGs in, but just monitor specific TGs on each knob setting. Cool, thanks!

Exactly. PPS takes all talkgroups (from every system you import or enter) and puts them into one giant list. You select the corresponding ones to the system you are monitoring. It's worth noting I've had some issues when having 2 systems that share the same talkgroup ID #s.

I also turned on the TG hold feature to stay on one TG that has activity I want to monitor, works the same as a scanner would. Then just release it to go back to scan.
