I apologize in advance for hijacking this thread. But you guys are the closest I could find to my area, Parke County. I haven't listened in a few years. I'm using a WS-1040. I turned my scanner on for some time away, and I'm hearing nothing. I saw something about rebanding, and I'm wondering if in the last four years there was a rebanding that would require new custom tables.
Thanks.

Since hijacking threads is not allowed by the forum rules, your post has been moved to a new thread.

If you have technical questions about setting up your WS-1040 for P25 Phase I system, which is what SAFE-T is, asking in the Whistler forum might get you better answers.

If you have questions about reception issues in Parke County, this thread would be the appropriate place to discuss them.

You shouldn't need custom tables to receive this system.
I wonder why I can't hear anything. I can hear the control channel anywhere from 80-99% signal strength when in analyze mode. But switch back to scan, or manual on a single frequency within the system or TG, and nothing.

Here is a Win500 file with all of the Parke County talkgroups plus the IN State Police. You will be able to select the site or sites you wish to scan by selecting scan lists. Save the attached zipped file to your computer and extract. Open the extracted file with Win500 and Upload to Scanner. Scan lists as follows:

SCAN LISTS:
1. SAFE-T Marshall
2. SAFE-T Bridgeton
3. SAFE-T Rockville

His Safe-T system on his WS 1040 might be set for Motorola Type II trunking instead of P25. I think when Safe-T moved to P25 all the talk group numbers changed. I’d set the scanner to receive Wildcard until he gets things sorted out.

It's P25 Auto mode right now. It previously worked just fine, not sure what's going on. My main question is, if I need custom trunking tables. I will check out our friend's code plug that he was kind enough to provide.

SAFE-T is a P25 Phase 1 system. P25 Auto takes care of the band plan. You don't need to worry about custom trunking tables. All of the TGID's are correct.

Try doing a reset on the scanner. Turn the scanner off. Turn the scanner on. At the welcome screen, press 0 and then press 2. That will reset the scanner without erasing programming. When you program the scanner, make sure that the cable is plugged into the PC/IF jack, not the headphone jack. Also, make sure that the plug is fully seated.

Another thing to check: If your programming cable has a mono adapter on the end, remove it. The WS1040 requires a TRS stereo plug. The scanner screen should display the percentage of the file transferred while programming.

Thank you for the file. I looked the settings over. I prefer a multi-site setup. I only had the Control Frequencies programmed in. This, for whatever reason, worked in the past. I added in the audio frequencies as well just for good measure. Still nothing. But then I did the settings reset, and voila! That fixed the issue. I'm wondering if my battery was dead for so long and it was unplugged that something in the memory was messed up. Anyway, I appreciate your and everyone's help on this. I have a new way I want to organize my scan lists and groups, so that is my project for the day.

I do have a follow-up question. Is there any negative or downside to dumping frequencies from all three sites into a single site, using Stationary mode, and enabling the scanner to check all Control Channels? This prevents me from having to enter TGs three or four times. (Because I'm also using Clinton freqs now that I got it working again.)

The file I created will enable you to see which units are affiliating with each site and which sites you are able to receive. If you know which sites you wish to use, it is OK to place all of the control channel and alternate frequencies for the sites into a single system using Stationary for Multi-Site. There is a 32 frequency limit per system. I used ARC500 to create the file. It is very easy to make multiple copies of talkgroups. I uploaded the ARC500 file into my Pro-197 and downloaded the scanner into Win500 to create your Win500 file. Glad to hear that you got the scanner working. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
