I'm not down there anymore but I think The Woodlands PD is encrypted. I know much of The Woodlands Is practically considered Spring, Texas nowadays and I'm not sure if the Harris County SO Northwest channels might be the ones you want to monitor or not? I know some of my friends down there have had Harris County Sheriffs and Constables come out when they've had to call them before. Part of The Woodlands Is definitely considered to be Spring, Texas now. But I don't really know the boundaries or what the general rule is for who is used anymore? I think they had their own talk group back when I was there about 7 years ago. But down in that Southeast Texas region, everything keeps changing and whatever was going on 7 years ago is not likely to be any good anymore anyway :)

When did The Woodlands PD dissolve or disappear? They definitely had their own PD through the 1980s and 1990s and on up into the 2000s and even after 2010. What happened that caused them to no longer be an agency?

I have no doubt that this information is correct and I even just looked up something that indicates exactly what you said. But the Woodlands definitely had their own PD up until recently and I'm just wondering if you might know what happened or when they disbanded? I had never heard about this and I find this interesting. Thanks for that information!

Oh yeah, and I guess that means Oak Ridge PD is no longer an agency either huh?

Been here since 1996 and never heard of a Woodlands PD. Not doubting y'all...just never heard of it.

To answer OP's question in a simple manor...

TXWarn Montgomery Simulcast Site1(1)51(33)>MCSO Disp2- tg 2028(7ec) and Disp5-tg 2034(7f2) will cover the south county area. Adding Oak Ridge PD/TACs and Shenandoah PD tgs will also add to the enjoyment along the I-45 corridor in the Woodlands area as they are separate municipalities. Both Oak Ridge and Shenandoah are dispatched on MCSO 2 so again MCSO2 and 5 will cover your Woodlands law enforcement needs. Have fun.

27??
Units are Oak Ridge North
28?? Units are Shenandoah
2C?? Units are DPS
83?? Units are Montgomery Co. Pct 3 units
What are you monitoring on? You're local and I've seen you around before but as a heads up the MoCo site is the pinnacle of simulcast distortion unless you're running a Unication, SDS, or Moto. Stationary should be ok, but mobile rx will be a nightmare if you're not running one of those.

For fire, I would scan FD1(dispatch) and FD2-8(response) and that should cover initial dispatches and responses (with details, location and assignments on FD2-8) county wide. Any fire calls involving apparatus with a 10 prefix will be Woodlands FD. (Engine 101, 105, Ladder 101 for example) will be calls assigned to the Woodlands Township FD proper.

Back when I moved up to Fort Worth in 1992 The Woodlands PD was on 153.785 TX/154.965 RX and the FD was on 153.845 TX/155.040 RX. I know it stayed that way for a number of years but at some point there was a TGID listed for them on rr.com. I believe it was on the Montgomery County system that it was listed but I can't recall if I ever actually heard it used. For all I know it may have not been good information?

I think I will she's that they were encrypted on whatever TRS they were listed on at the time. I thought they were on rr.com even today but I just looked and I see that only the FD is listed.

They're definitely was a PD throughout the 1980s and early 1990s. But it does look like the sheriff's department in Montgomery County handles that area today. I used to drive back and forth all the time and they seem to be fairly busy in the day. I'm kind of curious when they disbanded or disappeared myself :) I'm guessing it must have been before the 2000s got too far or maybe even as early as 1996? I didn't realize they weren't around anymore until this thread. That could be a good reason why I don't recall hearing them on the TRS they were on? My family's house is in Spring, Texas, just south of The Woodlands, and I grew up in the area through the 1970s and 1980s until I moved in 1992. And I definitely heard them a lot. The Woodlands was kind of a higher income area back in those days and they didn't seem to have the same crime problems you might find south of their city or even north up towards Conroe. This has me trying to do a little research but I'm not finding an answer as to when The Woodlands PD might have become defunct or merged with Montgomery County SO.

Oh yeah, and back in those days I'm referring to, Oakridge PD was really small and they had a simplex frequency of 155.685. They got a talk group on the MCSO EDACS system at some point. And just seeing that in my old database reminds me that is where I believe The Woodlands PD had their TGID when they did have one/were a PD . I completely forgot about the old EDACS system also haha. Boy was that a waste of Montgomery County funds.

Those were the good old days of hearing everything... :)

The Woodlands has never been an incorporated city. They actually had to get special legislation to be a "township" with certain limited authority under Texas law. As such, they've never had a PD. They primarily use Montgomery County Sheriff's deputies -- and I believe there's a MCSO substation in The Woodlands. Here's a link: Law Enforcement Services | The Woodlands Township, TX

As a township, they do have their own FD. And like the rest of Montgomery County, Montgomery County Hospital District provides the EMS coverage.

Back in the 70s and 80s, the McCullough football coaches doubled as Sheriff's Deputies on the weekends. It is hard for anyone to belive that when I tell them, but it's true. They used to bust parties and kids drinking on the weekends. Times for sure have changed! I don't think anyone back then would have ever thought about the school district growing enough to have their own full service police department like they do today.

The EDACS system went silent back in November. I think it had been running non-stop since the mid 1990s. Nothing was encrypted back then either, you could listen in on back channels and everything.
