Good evening,

I am having a hard time with programming my pro 2051 (was just given from a friend) for my county. We are on Motorola Type II trunked system, and I think it is digital.

Here is a link to the county page where they list the frequencies:

http://www.montcopa.org/eoc/EDS/Default.htm

I have East, West and Firegrounds (which is what I want to hear most, Firegrounds.) Programmed into Bank 1 and its set for Motorola Type II.

I have the talkgroups programmed in and the scanner is in id Scan mode currently.

How do I :

A: Monitor Firegrounds Region 3 Talkgroup
B: Scan 33.700 for dispatch

I only have the scanner for my better half to listen to when I am out on a call so she can hear whats going on.

The manual is confusing and programming this thing from the keypad sometimes has me going in circles.

I will eventually get the cable to connect it to my PC but I want to first know if anyone has a non digital PRO-2051 (or like) radio and is able to hear digital talkgroups.

I did some reading on the digital and I read something about encryption but I dont think we use it.

Anyone in Montco PA out there that could lend a hand?

If memory serves, the Mont. database listing is pretty dated (I seem to recall some comments to that effect on the Pa.forum) - however, no non digital trunker can handle the digital talkgroups You could copy the conventional stuff, and any rebroadcasts from the digital system onto conventional freqs, if any exists. Any analog talkgroups should also be copyable. I'd jump over to the Pa. forum and ask about Montgomery county before continiuing.

You will need a RS Pro 96 or 2096, Uniden BCD396t or BCD996t, or the new GRE PSR-500 to fully copy this sysytem.

If you decide to keep the 2051, do yourself a favor and get ARC433 from BuTel (through Scanner Master), and use the database to program once you've become a premium subscriber.

Thanks,

I will post on the PA forum and see what the folks say over there..

What a guy goes through to please the misses...

If it makes her feel better to hear whats going on at a call that I am on, I will do it..
