• High Band Paging Several fire departments that have been dispatched on Low band for many years have switched to one of the County’s new High Band Dispatch Frequencies. Reports from these departments are very positive. The site visits and inspections are being complete for the final High Band Dispatch System design. At this time the departments that have switched over are still single site dispatched, countywide coverage will not be available until the system is completed.
• 800MHz The County has received the lease from Ambler Borough for the antenna installation on the water tank in Lower Gwynedd Township. Meetings will be scheduled between the County, Nextel, and the Township for site construction. The site has already been approved at a past zoning hearing. All fire agencies within the County have switched over to the 800MHz system with the exception on the Lower Merion Township Fire Departments. However, the Lower Merion fire officers as well as the Township Fire Marshals are operating on 800MHz radios. The Fire Departments are expected to switch over shortly.
