Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I intend to use one of these to remotely control power and functions for my mobile radios. I cannot find any documentation other than the DB25 pinout in the other thread.

My questions:

Do the switches illuminate when pressed? Is there backlighting as well?

What is the part number for the lens and/or inserts to label the switches?

Is there a part number for a relay box and cables to accompany this?

Does anyone have a schematic or manual?

Thanks

I have one. Don’t have any manuals on it though.
It does have a backlight. And when you press a button it does get brighter.
They absolutely need a relay. I remember asking about it years ago when I got it. The switches can only handle about 0.5amps. I ended up using it as ground side switching.

I couldn’t find any legends for them. I ended up printing them in excel. Black background with white letters. Painstakingly repeatedly printing to get get the size correct. I do not have that computer anymore unfortunately.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

That is good to know. I wondered about the backlighting. I have found various 4 to 8 relay boards from China that will provide a 10 amp form C upon a pull down. It would be nice to find something with 4 or 6 relays, plus fuse protection in a small box, otherwise I mus fabricate.

I am going to control power to all the radios via the accessory leads plus a master off switch. Normally all will come on via a Lind timer, but if need be I want to be able to kill all or some. Also need control of a VRS.

How do the momentary buttons work? Is there any logic to latch them and the light? Or do I need an external latching relay?

I was lucky about 12 years ago when I found my switchbox(s). It was a lot deal 2 DEK switch boxes and 2 fabricated relay control boards. 8 relays, all with individual fuses. Although they work for what I need, it is not what I would have done if I were to build one. Once I figured out what I was doing I sold the other one.

Your box has 2 momentary switches? There were 2 versions (the lot I got had both versions) the other has only 1 momentary (HLN-1196 I think).
There is no latching ability for them. Strictly momentary. The backlight gets brighter for the time that it is pressed, but reverts when released.
You said you have the wiring diagram, did you notice that all the switches have NO, NC, and C connections brought out through the connector with the exception of one of the switches (SW5 maybe? Can’t remember). That only has C, and either NC or NO (again, can’t remember). But not both.

Switch 4 has Com and N.O. only.
