ok guys....i've searched the forums and haven't really got a straight answer. I've been looking at buying a motorola GP68. I know it is field programmable but is there a catch? Can this radio be programmed just as easy as a scanner would be?

VHF or UHF? I have a UHF I would condsider parting with. I have the wants for a new multiband all mode.

They are easily programmed from the front panel once you get the hang of it. The sensitivity and selecttivity are as good as any other single band radio. They are not a robust as an HT1000 about equal to a quality amateur radio.
