Wow, I've never heard of those before. I wonder if it's a rugged as the motorola portables, it would be nice to have a scanner that can stand up to the kind of abuse the real Motorola radios do.

Hmm, a little research shows that those things are for the Country Fire Authority in Victoria State, AU.

Looks like they use a bunch of frequencies in a band similar to the US railroads...

The AP50 and CP50 were advertised in some ham radio hams in the late 90s, I almost bought one. Sort of like the SP50 class of radio.

The AP was amataur & CP was for the commerical band. I'm sure there is more on google.

Interesting. The GP68 is an export version that's not only not sold in the U.S., Motorola actively discourages and prevents it's sale here. I had a UHF version for sale on eBay a few years ago, and the batwing had eBay pull my auction. It was then that I found it was on eBay's prohibited item list.

The issue is that it's keyboard programmable with tx capability across it's entire frequency range. It makes a poor scanner, btw, as do most commercial tranceivers.
