So I am gonna assume that my question is stupid but I'm gonna ask it anyway.
My question is would I be able to get away with mounting a 22" antenna to a vent stack pipe on my roof?
Or is that a really stupid idea to do?

Those pipes are usually just inserted thru a hole in the roof and a pieces of plumbing strap hold them to a beam or two. Strapping a mast to that, that's going to move with wind could disrupt the flashing and sealer allowing water to enter.

If it’s a steel vent pipe you can mount an impressive amount of stuff on it. They would be anchored to the rafters and or gable just under the roof and I’ve been mounting antennas to those since the late 60s and never had a problem. Some newer houses might have ABS vent pipes and you should be able to safely mount a lightweight 22” tall antenna on those.

I wouldn't be mounting a mast to the vent stack pipe.
I would be attaching a Ground Plane with a 22" antenna directly to it.

I think you'll be fine. In areas with snow/ice, those vent pipes take a beating. A 1/4 wave mobile antenna isn't going to put enough load on the pipe to be an issue.
