The MSP chopper is out and using GEVENT 31 (1395). I'm picking it up on the Genesee Co system.

The letters G/H/I are the zones in the radio. Every MPSCS radio has the event channels in Zone G, H, and I (if law enforcement).

MSP Chopper

For the last few weeks they have been operating "Operation Hemp" this happens each year. The chopper picks out the crops from the air and directs the ground units to the site so they can pull up the crop and make arrests.

The USCG chopper has also participated in the past. If you use Pro96com or watch your GRE radio you will see multiple county ID's.

I think someone from MPSCS explained at one point that they have something different for helicopters so they don't hit absolutely every tower in their line-of-sight?

They need something like that for certain talkgroups in Genesee Co. like Grand Blanc Twp PD's private TG. They don't need to be heard in 4 counties!

For ground-based it's not a problem. They can easily disable certain talkgroups from affiliating to towers outside of their area. I know they do that for quite a few.

MSP helo's.

MSP has 2 helicopters.
N111SP Bell 206 Jet Ranger.
N430ST Bell 430
Bell Helicopter - The 430

MSP sometimes keeps one of the helo's at the old DPD hanger at Detroit City airport. TROOPER 2 is the call sign I hear them use around the Detroit area.

Okay, ha I don't have the scanner to listen to that, I do however listen to the Coastguard and can listen to the Coastguard helicopter when they are talking to Detroit , or St. Clair on the Marine Radio Frequencies. Man I really want a digital scanner.

Well Pro 106's are down to $379.99 at Radio Shack now. When I bought mine a year ago it was $499.99.
