Got a roof snow rake laying around? Well, I did and decided to put it to some use while I experiment and figure out what I will do for a permanent solution. This rake comes in 3 sections. About 5' per section. Held to deck rail with adjustable trouser belts. :lol:

ST2 Scantenna on two of the rod sections.

Beats having them inside and can be swapped and/or broken down in a minute of less. Acutally fairly stable with two sections. With the Scantenna on top of the 3rd pole, as expected, she gets woobly. AGAIN, this is for testing as I am very new to scanning and was comparing antennas and don't really want to mess around on the roof. Anyways, as silly as it is, thought I'd share. :)

Deck Antenna

Hey, i like it, neat set up, you could secure it with TV antenna pipe clamps...I have two RS groundplanes in the attic with RG6U low loss and they work great....

I hope you don't think I was being critical...I was inferring that I could see ME at that cookout...all of us plugging in our scanners and wondering if the grill's regulator would affect the impedance match of our custom can-coozy equiped - 800MHz enhanced fold-up "stealth" lawn chair/antennas.

Most importantly...with that rig, what have you ascertained A/B'ing the Scantenna and the Sputnik?

::nerd out::

What's a snow rake, we don't have them in our stores down here ;)

It looks very functional, and good for testing, and can be easily taken down if a storm comes.

I have something similar using three 5 ft RS antenna mast sections held with hose clamps on the backside of a deck post.. About 12 ft or so above the deck, works ok and easy to move if needed...
