I just thought I'd put up a shot of my babies as they are today. On the left by itself, the venerable Icom IC-R71A for the worldband DX from the easy chair. At the bedside, the Uniden BC350A for unbeatable reception of marine, railroad, and air...the Uniden BC785D for trunking reception of the San Francisco Police and Fire among other things...and last but certainly not least, the Icom IC-R75 for falling asleep to 80 or 160 meter ragchewing, a broadcast from a distant land, or that soft MW DX.

PS the dynamic duo DJ130 stingers on the roof I can't forget those:)

Nice Setup! I especially love the vintage Radio Shack speakers! Those are normally paired with one of the Realistic DX series of receivers.

Your right! Those make alot of rigs sound real nice. I got one attached to my Pro-2006 and it really makes a difference!

I enjoyed having my first "ham shack" in my bedroom at my parents' house when I was growing up. Then, when I was all "grown up" and still living at home with Mom & Dad for a very short time before getting married, it was nice to have a bed in the same room; I had a long mic cord extension so no matter which bands I was talking on, I always had the option of laying down in bed and ragchewing. Now that I'm old and married 2nd time around, I have my ham shack in a spare bedroom. No bed or lounge chair, just a comfortable desk chair that I occasionally nap from if I'm tired. Seeing the bed and comfy chairs brings back some really fond memories of my ham shacks of the past. How many times have I moved, re-located, and had different radio rooms? 12 times, once even in an apartment with indoor and balcony-mounted antennas!

I sure appreciate your approval you guys thank you:) Yeah I am lucky I have an apartment with a huge bedroom to accomodate the radios, my large desk here with the computer, a curio cabinet with collector cars in it-not to mention two dressers and the bed. It keeps the livingroom freed up. I prefer the bedroom for listening as you do Will, as it relaxes the mind and winds up the day in a nice way.

You have a nice looking set up there.
I would like to be able to mount my antenna outside for my scanner, but you know about HOA's, So I have my antenna mounted in the stair well of my condo.

That's the Pro2066.

....and there is the glassmount. I actually bought a Larsen Triband and fabbed the element to the glassmount base. Much better reception on non-800mhz bands.

Thank you:) Yeah HOAs are just like property managers are to apt. dwellers like me. You could tell them what I told mine: "this is no different than my neighbors erecting dish antennas for TV-this is MY choice of medium and these are its antennas" and "the neighbors think I could be a cop or something with those antennas so it may thwart some rifraf in the premises":D

very nice setup man very nice.
Thanks mule:)

Whatsup neighbor! Thanks:) hey I see you have the R70in your collection-you like it? Do you use it much and if so what antenna are you running it on? I would like to have you post some of your SW catches since we are so close...only if you want to. Thanks Vince

Hey Frank!
I do like my R70 and, yes, I do use it alot, but only for utility monitoring. Im using a homebrew coaxial dipole on it right now as I have limited outdoor space for anything big. Its a great radio for what I use it for, but I will be upgrading in the future with something like what you got for storing memory. Just seeing your setup(as well as others) gets me in the mood to go hunt for one.

I did a little moving around in my bedroom so I can enjoy the R71A at the desk with the computer right there for radio research:) this makes more sense and is more ergonomic. Of course I still keep the other radios at the bedside, and the old easy chair can still be enjoyed once something good is tuned in.
