...and glad I found this site.

Hey, I received a RadioShack Pro-97 triple trunking scanner for Christmas. I live under the flight path of small plane and helicoptor traffic, which drives me absolutely insane, and one of the many brothers suggested listening to the air traffic chatter instead of gritting my teeth. Alrighty then.

I haven't even figured out the basics of this thing; I'm certain many hours and devotion to a new hobby is in order.

In the meantime, there's one frequency that is SO busy. Does anyone know what this is? It sounds like a combination of Valley Displatching, several FD's, SLPD, Murray PD, and the dogcatcher.

Frequency is 857.93750. Are all of these dispatches combined on one frequency? Or more?

There are no aircraft freqs in the 800 range. What you are probably hearing is a freq used in a 'trunking' system that is shared by many agencies. Check the database here, and I think on the bottom it has some airport info. The 97 should have a preset search bank for air. It is approx. 108.000 to ?137.00.

I'll check around, thanks.

I live in Murray. Any help you can throw my way would be awesome.

I saw a cd program (here, in fact) that I can use to program the thing. It's already programmed in the sense that it states if it's police/fire department, airline, etc. but that's about it; I don't know if that program would do more than that. I'd like to name the frequencies and know how to scan from one to another.

My brother's a cop in SLC. I think it would be hysterical to listen to his calls and pretend to be psychic when I call him. "Hey, you on that robbery yet or not? Get a load off, man." I may be bored, who knows.
