been thinking of getting one for AM-FM talk radio-basic RX operation,,maybe RX on the 1-20MHz bnds also..

Antennas

poor pics but there is a R/S discone, Milair discone, re-packaged Austin Ferret, and ANtenna Warehouse Log. HF is an inverted V. I use two active Stridsberg MCA-204 multi couplers.
Not the best...but it works. Highly recommend the Stridsbergs.

As far as the Alinco, it gets the job done. I would look for the newer version (X-2000 i think)

Antennas are getting re-cabled in a week or so anyway.
The log is actually about 30 feet from the trees.

Sorry if the question(s) seems elementary but I'm relatively new to this, I was involved a bit in the 70's but things have changed. My last Bearcat I don't even think was made by Uniden. Yep, that long ago.

Antennas

Great setup. It's neat and functional. I have a question about your antennas. How did you construct the horizontal piece on your mast? I like the idea of being able to increase the number of antennas on a single mast.

Nice shack and great collection of radios, I also use one of the Antenna Warehouse Log for about 12 years now seems to do the best with UHF here and I second the Stridsberg's have 2 myself..

The last antenna picture in the group, looks like the antenna I picked up for $5 - I started a thread here http://forums.radioreference.com/antennas-coax-forum/181256-help-identify.html to help me identify what antenna it was, since I did not know. How does the antenna perform for you? Would also like to say awesome setup, looks great!
