After lurking for some time, I'd like to share my humble collection of radios. Since, when you arrive at +5 of them (or some other number your wife frowns upon), then you have a "collection"...

Simple stuff... 2 Pro 97s, a Pro 164, a Pro 163 and the work radio - a Motorola XTS2500, used in Refinery Safety. The RSs mostly work on a couple local trunked systems and a menagerie of conventional PD/FD channels. Anntenna is indoor - a RS Model: 20-032 25 to 1300MHz. Works well indoors, as I am 3 stories up. The mixer is nice with multiple radios. It helps to clean up static/noise and I can mix the radios up/down in volume and left/right stereo channels. As ai look at other's Shacks with 8-12 radios, I wonder how those folks are managing them in terms of audio control...

Thanks for looking...!

Nice setup

I like your shack, orderly and functional. I also like that you are using a mixer. When I tried that I had enough problems with impedence mismatches that I gave up. How is it working for you?

The mixer works out perfectly. I have no problems whatsoever. I do try to send an equal volume level from the two or three scanners connected to the mixer and make sure the settings on each mixer channel are the same, but other than that, it works perfectly. The mixer was actually put there to drive a self-powered 350W subwoofer via XLR Main Outs. It just happens that it works out well for the scanner application as well. I gotta say that running the scanner audio through an equalizer really cleans it up nicely - sound is clear and clean. Also, although mind-bogglingly difficult to listen to, the mixer allows me to route multiple scanners to a single pair of headphones when necessary.

I use a mixer for my stuff at home too, it works really nice for scanners/music/etc getting things at the right volume for my speakers or headphones.
